Last Wednesday, our four-strong team from Need to See IT Publishing headed to Prezzo in Mumbles for dinner — and what an experience it turned out to be, the perfect place for our 3 strong editorial team to have a long overdue catch up in person (along with Laura’s better half Kev) It doesn’t happen often, and when it does, it’s always rather special, so we headed off to Mumbles in Swansea – and it’s latest addition – a new branch of Italian chain Prezzo overlooking the sea.
Can you think of anything better than freshly cooked Italian food in one of Wales best loved seaside spots? Honestly, it sounded like heaven before we even got there and the experience lived up to the promise thanks to the wonderful Lukasz and Fabiana, who made us incredibly welcome.

The location is spectacular, with stunning seafront views and a ‘secret garden’ (not shown above) overlooking the sea. Our call to postpone the previous week due to illness was met with such a lovely, helpful response we were already sure we would be well looked after – and we were not disappointed on arrival, where we were greeted warmly like old friends in a relaxed and friendly manner.
The setting is stylish, with a lively buzz in the restaurant that made it feel special without being overwhelming.
It was great to be offered a choice of tables. The outdoor seating is fabulous and the view spectacular, but on a chilly Autumn night we decided to save that for a visit next Summer and chose to sit indoors on this occasion. Our table was well-positioned, giving us space to chat comfortably while still soaking up the authentic Italian atmosphere.
The menu offered an excellent mix of Italian classics and modern favourites, and between the four of us we were able to sample a wide range of dishes. Each one was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavour. The pasta was fresh and full of character, the pizzas had that irresistible balance of crisp base and generous toppings, and the seasonal specials were a real treat. Portions were spot on — generous enough to feel indulgent but leaving just enough room for dessert.
We all have different appetites and different tastes, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t all have a try of everything – there’s no ‘Joey doesn’t share food’ when on a night out with our small team! Between us, we sampled Mozzarella & Tomato Arancini (an Italian classic). Italian Meatballs, Pancetta Mac & Cheese Bites, Oven Baked Creamy Mushrooms and a giant garlic bread with balsamic onions and mozzarella – which was incredible. We all agreed that we rather liked each other’s choices, but also all agreed we liked our own food best!
For mains, we enjoyed a Chicken and Roasted Pepper Pizza, Crab & Lobster Ravioli, Beef Shin Ravioli and Kev chose the ‘house favourite’ pizza – Spicy ‘nduja, pepperoni, rich tomato sauce and mozzarella, finished with red chillies and drizzled with honey – all absolutely delicious. Again, we had an obligatory taste of each other’s food, and while we all liked everything, we all agreed our own dish was the favourite!
One thing stood out above all else – and that was consistency of both the food and the service: every course impressed, and the quality never faltered. Drinks were topped up without fuss, staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and nothing ever felt rushed.
We were all completely full, but to not try the delicious desserts would have been rude so we sampled a selection and again, shared so we all had a taste of everything.
By the end of the night, all four of us agreed it was one of the best meals out we’d had in some time (and that we ‘laptop hermits’ need to get out together more often!).
Prezzo in Mumbles has managed to strike the perfect balance of quality, value, and atmosphere — making it an ideal choice for anything from casual mid-week dinners to special occasions – and if you can manage a dessert after the generous portions, we would definitely recommend it!
We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already planning our next visit – maybe for our Christmas Party! A fantastic evening all round — highly recommended!
